General Info
Overall, my philosophy is to treat each patient as family. I will frequently say to a patient that if you were my relative this is what I would do. I strive to do what’s best for patients, many times the conservative or medical approach to a vascular problem is the best choice. Although I am a vascular surgeon, a lot of our treatment protocols involve a conservative nonsurgical management. If a surgical approach is needed, we will evaluate a minimally invasive procedure initially and move on to an open procedure if necessary. I earned my medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico; UMDNJ/Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center. I completed surgical residencies at Easton Hospital and MCP Hahnemann University and served as senior surgical resident and chief surgical resident at Easton Hospital. I served a vascular surgery fellowship at Boston University Hospital and an endovascular fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. I am a board-certified specialist in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery. I joined St. Luke’s University Health Network in 1989. I am the medical director of The Vascular Center and a vascular surgeon— a physician who specializes in the comprehensive care of patients with peripheral vascular disease, which is a disease that causes restricted blood flow to the arms, legs and the rest of the body. I currently focus on the care of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD)and chronic venous insufficiency utilizing future technologies for the minimally invasive treatment of vascular diseases. When not working, I am enjoying family time. I have two daughters who are in college. Needless to say, my wife and I have dedicated ourselves to their futures. I am an avid runner and I have been doing so since 1975. My favorite event of the year is the St Luke's half marathon. I run/ exercise five or six days a week, and have also taken up cycling which I find to be an excellent way to cross train. My wife volunteers for the Middle Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue (MAESSR.org), and her commitment is amazing. We have always had two or three Springers of our own. We have fostered dozens of dogs over the years, and I found that to have been extremely rewarding. I enjoy golf and spending time at the Jersey Shore.
