- X-raysAll of the dentists at SmilesRForever have extensive experience with implants. Our dentists receive continuing education on the latest techniques and technologies. With our cone beam CAT scan technology, the doctors can digitally plan the implant placement on a computer program before actually placing the implant in your mouth. This 3-d x-ray shows the doctors more than regular 2-d dental x-rays so that they are able to see each patient’s exact anatomy and quality of bone. This gives every patient the comfort of knowing their implant will be placed successfully. Call SmilesRForever today, (618)939-4042, to schedule an implant consultation to see how we can help you change your smile.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningDuring adult cleanings, the dental hygienist will perform a blood pressure screening, oral cancer screening, and a periodontal disease (gum disease) screening. Recommendations will be made based on your individual needs. Healthy patients may only require twice a year professional cleanings. Patients with gingivitis or periodontal disease will require additional treatment.
- Teeth Cleaning
- Fluoride TreatmentAdult cleanings and fluoride treatments are two of the most important preventative measures. Both routine procedures help maintain the overall health of your smile. Regular cleanings will help eliminate plaque that can bring about diseases like gingivitis while fluoride treatments add protection to help preserve and maintain teeth.
- Dental SealantsAir Abrasion technology uses a fine stream of tiny particles to remove decay, old composite restorations, and superficial enamel staining. It can also prepare tooth surfaces for bonding or sealants. In the process, all materials including the particles are suctioned away cleanly and safely. A quieter experience and the reduced need for anesthesia, leads to a more comfortable experience with less collateral damage.
- Fillings
- VeneersSimilar to putting a thin layer of decorative marble on the front of a plain building, porcelain veneers are used to repair broken down, chipped, stained or uneven front teeth. Porcelain veneers can change an unattractive smile into one that is absolutely beautiful. To allow for the thickness of the porcelain veneer and bonding material, about one millimeter of the tooth’s surface is removed. Resulting in a breathtaking cosmetic change, porcelain veneers can produce a dramatic smile.
- CrownsCrowns are used to restore teeth that are badly broken down or that have huge fillings. Additionally, they can be made to look like your own natural tooth. Crowns are very strong, and with proper maintenance can last for years and years.
- BridgesDental bridges are one way to renew a smile by seamlessly replacing a tooth lost by disease or injury. Bridges are fixed, cemented restorations with a natural look and feel. A bridge uses to anchoring teeth on either side of a gap to hold a false tooth or teeth in between. Prevent bite collapse and restore your ability to effectively chew in the area of the missing teeth with a bridge from SmilesRForever.
- Dental Bonding
- Restorative DentistryFillings are used in restorative dentistry to repair minimal tooth fractures, tooth decay, and other damaged tooth surfaces. During your regular cleanings and screenings, your dentist will look for these developments. You will be advised on the appropriate type of filling based on the extent of the repair needed, the location of the repair, any allergies or unique concerns, and cost. Cost and payment options are always reviewed with you before your treatment begins.
- Root Canal TreatmentRoot canals save teeth that have severe decay near the nerve of the tooth. Many of our patients report that having the procedure feels like having a filling. If you’re experiencing spontaneous pain while biting, throbbing, extreme sensitivity to hot and cold foods, or experience an injury or decay that creates an infection, or abscess, in the bone, you could be a candidate for a root canal. The goal of a root canal is to strengthen and save the tooth while ensuring the infection doesn’t reoccur.
- Deep CleaningNon-surgical gum treatment, or deep cleaning, goes beyond the typical regular cleaning. Patients that have gum disease need a more thorough removal of plaque (soft deposits) and tartar (hard deposits) above and below the gum line.
- DenturesDentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and help restore your smile. Complete dentures replace all teeth and removable partial dentures replace some teeth.
- Dental ImplantsImplants offer many impressive benefits. They cannot decay and are never hot, cold, or sweet sensitive. Implants actually preserve the bone around them and help prevent the bone from gradually shrinking over the patient’s lifetime. Above all, implants feel like your own teeth.
- Oral Surgery
- Flap SurgeryThe first step in treating gum disease is a non-surgical method known as deep cleaning (see below for more information). However, in severe cases, our offices provide in-office gum surgery. Damaged tissue is removed at that time, root planning can be used to remove tartar from above and below the gum line, and then flap surgery can be used in the most severe cases where the gums need to be sutured in place to fit snugly around the tooth once again.
- Gum SurgeryA buildup of plaque can cause the development of gingivitis and the gum disease periodontitis, which may later require gum surgery. Prevention through regular cleanings and screenings is our goal, but often adults develop gingivitis in their 30s and 40s and require treatment. Bleeding gums are usually a sign of gum disease.
- Tooth ExtractionsA damaged tooth, cavity, infection, or more can lead to the need for an extraction. Our doctors offer all types of dental extractions, including surgical and wisdom teeth extractions. Additionally, we extract impacted wisdom teeth.
- OrthodonticsIn the meantime, I started working for Smiles R Forever dental office in Waterloo, IL. It was suggested by Dr. Blattner that I try neuromuscular TENS therapy and orthodontics with Invisalign.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsIn February of 2017, I began my orthodontic treatment using Invisalign clear aligners. I was initially prescribed 22 aligners that would take about a year to complete, switching trays every 2 weeks.
- BracesI had braces from another orthodontist when I was in middle school, but my bite was not left in the correct position. I also had not worn my retainers as directed, so my teeth and bite had both shifted. I began receiving TENS therapy once every couple of weeks or so, which greatly helped my pain and discomfort, but only for a short time, and frequent treatments were necessary.
- Teeth WhiteningHave you ever noticed that your favorite television and movie personalities have pearly-white teeth? Improved teeth-whitening methods of the past decade have proven to be both simple and effective. In most situations, yellowed, discolored and aged teeth can be whitened in just a few hours at the dental office. Or, if you prefer, several weeks of home whitening can give similar results. A combination of at home and in office whitening will give you the whitest and brightest smile. When properly performed, modern teeth-whitening procedures are quite safe and can be repeated periodically to maintain a dazzling, white smile.
- Cosmetic DentistryProjecting a healthy image is important. While bright eyes and an attractive hair style contribute to this image, it is your smile that speaks volumes about you and helps others establish a first impression. Experiments show that all it takes is a tenth of a second to form an impression of a stranger from their face and this impromptu analysis dictates the tone of the relationship. A dazzlingly white, straight smile projects an air of confidence that can’t be beat.
