Provided by YP.comEssentially what Dr. Lawrence lacks in social skills - which by the below testaments should be a decent indication - he does possess in his technical expertise. He is a first-rate technician (all doctors & dentists are technicians first & foremost) and can provide dental solutions as well as anyone, which is unusual nowadays. He is not an effective communicator, however, so if that is necesary for your dental experience you may be disappointed. However, it should also be pointed out that with changes in the last few years to Medicaid laws, it has become difficult for Dentists who do still accept Medicaid patients to even make a profit. This is a governance issue and not the fault of the dentist. But as far as skill goes Dr. Lawrence is first-rate.

Provided by YPmobileWe trusted dr lawrence! We knew there were negative reviews. He was close by and accepted our insurance. I had a root canal that turned into a tooth extraction. Dr lawrence was BARBARIC!! I sucked it up. A month later had another tooth that was slightly bothering me. Went in and he filled it and said "don't be surprised if you call me tonight screaming". Well, I bit into a soft piece of deli meat and fell to my knees!!!! Dr. Lawrence knew exactly what he was doing!!! ALL OF THE REVIEWS are true!!! He is deceitful!!! He should not be a dentist!!! Please be advised that I am not an angry or bitter patient!! But I warn you: they will tell you that "the patient is bitter or had a problem with the bill". This is not true!!! I went against all negative reviews!!!! Hoping he would prove to be a great dentist who was local. HE IS NOT A GOOD DENTIST!!!

Provided by YP.comI had a very pleasant experience for my first time seeing this dentist. The girls at the front desk were all extremely nice! His hygienist Sue did such a wonderful thorough job! HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a cleaning! Dr. Lawrence came into the room after my cleaning and xrays were done, he did the exam and said I had one cavity and was able to take care of my cavity right away! Who needs small talk with the dentist when you have all the other nice people working for him! I would recommend this dentist and his staff!

Provided by YP.comI go to this guys Port Jefferson office. He has done my cleanings, fillings and a cap over the past 3 years.
What he lacks in bedside manner and small-talk, is made up with a quick and thorough visit. he has always explained the necessary procedures in detail, and although he is rushed for time, he gets the job done.
I am not seeking a new friendship with my care providers, and could give a rat's arse if the dentist had a nice weekend, or if he is enjoying the weather.
I actually appreciate "business medicine", less talk, no hand holding and less expensive. Unfortunately, many medical providers are not properly compensated and are forced to run their business, yes I said business, with strict operating procedures to be profitable.
If you want a friend, get a chia pet or a pet rock and bring it on your next visit.

Provided by YP.comFirst of all he is a dentist so don't address him as doctor. He does not have an MD. His staff wants u to sign up for more services and stretch what can be fixed in one sitting to 10. He clearly has a complex. Even real doctors with MDs behave with more humility than this one

My husband had an appointment with Dr. Lawrence at his Port Jefferson location in March 2012. I told the staff when I set up the appointment that my husband has very sensitive teeth, that we would only be going for a consultation to see what needed to be done, and set up appointments for dental work from there.
We got there and the doctor made us feel very rushed. He took my husband back while I stayed in the waiting room to fill out paper work. He was back there for a few minutes for the "consultation" where Dr. Lawrence was very rough and caused a lot more pain than was necessary. Dr. Lawrence briefly explained what needed to be done, but using dentist jargon that my husband didn't fully understand, not in a way that a Doctor should speak with a patient.
When they came back up front I asked what should take priority as we knew going in that there was quite a bit of work that needed to be done. The doctor replied with some short and rude non-answer and walked away.
I left the office infuriated. Decent people do not treat other people that way, much less a Doctor treating a patient that way. It was completely ridiculous and we decided never to go back there again.
To top it off, I received a bill in the mail THIS WEEK almost a YEAR LATER. They didn't submit the claim until January 2013. I do not recommend this Doctor to anyone.
We decided to go with Dr. Snehal Sheth, who is very gental and always makes sure you're comfortable.

Honestly the man is completely unprofessional and rude.
Clearly there's something psychologically wrong with this man and he should be under investigation.
Upon my very first appointment, this man didn't bother introducing himself and he rushed through a butchering of my gums.
I'm not an overly sensitive person, by any stretch, but he did just about everything he could to make me feel uncomfortable. I was in shock at his total lack of common courtesy and tact.
After, literally, a five minute "cleaning" he left me with a mouth full of blood and mumbled something to the measure of "you're done,go to the desk." There was no consultation before his hyper-butchering of my gums and absolutely no comments after. He insinuated gums disease, which, in his tonality, sounded more like an insult. He never consulted with me on how to proceed to treat the problem. Clearly I'm not the only person that experienced this fool. I truly hope nobody else has to go through an unpleasant visit such as the one I had with this man.
If there's a way to formally report him, I will, and I'm seriously going to look into it.
In society we should not let these things slide. These people are here to help us and they have no right or reason to treat patients like total garbage. It's our duty to report them so that they can put their shortcomings into perspective. In this case, i believe there's no hope for Dr. Lawrence. He should know better.
If anyone else had a bad experience with this man, they should formally report him as well.
Please remember that you did nothing wrong and the problem is with this hack of a doctor. His mistakes are something that he's going to have to live with now.

Provided by YP.comToday was my first experience with Dr. Lawrence and my last. I found him to be condescending and entitled. When I asked if he would be able to fill any cavities today he ranted that appointments were for 30 minutes only, because it was not to his benefit to schedule patients for longer appontments. He made it clear that everything was about money and he did not demonstrate any type of compassion or tact. I was referred to Dr. Lawrence by a friend who said he was somewhat aloof but ok, so I trusted her opinion. When I told her about my experience she apologized but was not surprised. She also will not be returning to his office. I strongly discourage anyone from going to this doctor. His receptionist was obviously embarrased by this jerk and suggested ways to find another dentist.
