This is the restaurant that started my love affair with Indian food. Everything at Sitar is phenomenal. I've eaten at one or two places since that may have been as good (or perhaps even better), but definitely none in Durham. All the usual favorite dishes are fantastic.



And they (at least used to) serve at the Duke student union, so I ate there at least three times a week, and it never got old.

Awesome home cooked food. Get the buffet that way you can try everything. Best food in the triangle area by far. The restaurant itself isn't fancy but once you start eating you don't care. I went Saturday for my first time and will be back soon. I didn't get the chance to met Joyce herself but Daniellae who was waiting on us was just super friendly and great.

I agree that the tikka massala is the best. Great service -- friendly and courteous waiters/waitresses, and they always re-fill the water. Although the offer slightly varies, tikka massala, indian spinach, tandoori chicken, naan bread and rice pudding are among the regular dishes. They have 3-4 types of sauces for rice dishes and a vegetable dish in a curry-ish sauce that I really like. They also have yoghurt sauces for the bread, plus a few salads. I think it`s around 10 dollars on weekdays, around 12.50 on weekends for lunches. Highchair available.

We really enjoyed Sitar Palace. The food is great, and the staff is very friendly. The buffet is a bit expensive, but the food is terrific. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala.
