General Info

Mariah's work as a scenic artist at playhouses in Indiana and Maine developed her skill for artistic detail. Durango Custom Works, a collaboration with her husband, allowed Mariah the opportunity to apply her scenic experience to private residences, businesses and restaurants. Her decorative painting, faux finishes, and murals transform nondescript walls into portals to another space or time. A member of the Portrait Society of America and an internationally recognized master oil painter, Mariah's portraits are her most riveting and compelling works. She has studied with modern day masters and continues to hone her skills with workshops in classical oil portrait training. Children's portraits are particularly close to her heart. "Iam fascinated by the innocence and joy in children. Their clear, open eyes take in everything around them."

Mariah has a stellar background, and we were very impressed with the portfolio of her previous work, education and training. Mariah came highly recommended to us by Carol Madeen of Madeen Interior Design Studio, Durango, CO. Carol has utilized Mariah's talents to compliment several of her interior design endeavors. Mariah is very well organized and professional in her work approach. She gave us a very accurate estimate of cost and time associated with the job. She was very prompt each day and completed the mural on time and within budget. She was also very meticulous with regard to the detail of the animals insuring the exemplified realism.
