8 yrs ago we purchased a $3000 leather living room set from Rooms to Go. Now just 8 yrs later it is junk! we applied their supplied treatment regularly but the color layer is actually falling off of the underlying layer. yes, the warranty is up; however when you spend that much money for REAL LEATHER, you expect furniture that should last a lifetime as real leather does. After consulting a leather restoration professional, we found out that the manufacturer, in order to save a few bucks, substituted split hide for top grain leather in the places with the problems. Split hide is a thin shaving taken from the underlying, cheap part of the hide and is not even considered leather by most stores. it can not be restored. it only lasts a few years so we basically were duped by the used car salesmen turned furniture salesmen into thinking we were getting REAL LEATHER. A letter to their home office resulted in an email saying 'too bad'. NEVER AGAIN!
