• Dental Examination
  For a checkup (or oral exam), Dr. Gaunt will look at your teeth, gums, jaw, and dental work to try and catch the slightest signs of any problems. That way, he can intervene early and take care of you with conservative treatments. By coming to see him regularly, any issues you might have can be kept small and relatively harmless!
• X-rays
  Traditional dental X-rays required a lot of time to develop and exposed people to uncomfortable amounts of radiation, but thanks to the advent of digital dentistry, these problems have both been solved. Digital X-rays can create crystal-clear images almost instantly, and they emit up to 80% less radiation as well. Plus, the images can be easily blown up, rotated, and color-coded so you can easily go over them with your dentist.
• Oral Cancer Screening
  Oral cancer is a very dangerous disease that is actually quite treatable when detected early, which is why Dr. Gaunt recommends that every adult should undergo at least one oral cancer screening per year. He can perform one as part of your regular checkups to make sure you’re never caught off-guard. The screening itself only takes a few minutes, but it could literally be those few minutes that save your life.

• Teeth Cleaning
  Think of scaling and root planing as a dental cleaning that is specifically focused on your gums. Using an ultrasonic cleaner, we’ll first remove any plaque and tartar that is built up around your gum line (scaling), and then we’ll gently reshape the roots of your teeth. Why? Because this will make plaque less likely to gather on them in the future, significantly lowering your chances of redeveloping gum disease.
• Fluoride Treatment
  Fluoride is found in nature, but you’ll also find it in most toothpastes and public water sources because it has been shown to help protect the teeth from decay and cavities. To make sure you stay cavity-free between appointments, we can provide you with a topical fluoride treatment at each of your checkups. It only takes a few minutes, is completely painless, and it will help keep your teeth strong until we can see you again!
• Dental Sealants
  A dental sealant allows us to place an invisible barrier over a tooth in order to keep it protected from cavity-causing plaque, bacteria, and acids. For this, we’ll apply a clear, thin layer of a plastic-based substance directly to the teeth. We typically only need to use them for the back teeth, as their pitted and grooved surfaces make them the most difficult to clean (particularly for small children). They take minutes to apply and can provide up to 10 years of reliable cavity protection.

• Resin Composite
  In our mission to always make a patient’s smile look great after any treatment, our practice only uses tooth-colored fillings when repairing small cavities and slightly damaged teeth. They are made of a composite resin material that we can color-match to make it practically invisible in the mouth, and because it’s entirely metal-free, it won’t make a tooth more sensitive to temperature changes like a traditional filling. It even bonds directly to the enamel to help restore a tooth’s strength as well.
• Veneers
  The most important characteristics of porcelain veneers are that they are lifelike and color-stable. Plus, when bonded to the teeth, they are durable for many years of beautiful service. • Crowns
  Crowns, or caps, are used to restore broken or cracked teeth. The new metal-free crowns eliminate the ugly black line you may have seen next to the gum line on older crowns.
• Bridges
  Another form of tooth replacement available is fixed bridge. Unlike dentures and partials, fixed bridges are not removable. They are retained by your own teeth! Crowns on either side of the bridge of replacement teeth affix to your remaining teeth to give your fixed bridge stability and a comfortable feel. A fixed bridge can restore your smile when missing teeth have interrupted oral function and beauty, giving you the ability to chew and speak without worry of people noticing missing teeth.
