General Info
Founded in 1971, the Texas Migrant Council is a private, nonprofit Head Start provider for children of farm workers. Its Head Start program serves more than 8,000 children between the ages of 1 and 5 and their families in the states of Texas, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, New Mexico, Iowa, Oklahoma and Nevada. The council provides family literacy, consumer education, prenatal care and parents education in identifying quality child care. The Texas Migrant Council offers the Healthy Marriage Program, which provides marriage education to married and unmarried couples and unwed expectant couples. In addition, the program teaches communication, problem solving, anger management, parenting, budgeting and healthy lifestyle skills to individuals and couples. The council maintains a location in Donna, Texas.
