About DMCS Dixon Montessori Charter School (DMCS) is a parent-founded charter school authorized by the California State Board of Education. DMCS offers a standards-based, Montessori inspired education to students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. DMCS has no district boundaries and is open to all students in California, free of charge. California charter schools are tuition-free public schools providing instruction to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Dixon's only charter school, DMCS, currently offers a Montessori curriculum to students grades K-8. Charter schools are typically created by a group of parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders who petition their local school board or county board of education for a charter to open an independent school in their community. DMCS provides an option for families seeking a non-traditional educational experience for their children. Public charter schools offer an important and timely public school option to address the challenges facing the traditional education system and fulfill the demand for additional high-quality options in public education. Dixon Montessori Teacher Qualifications Dixon Montessori Charter School classroom instructors have the necessary credentials to teach in the State of California and meet highly qualified federal requirements. Dixon Montessori Charter School teaching interns have met all eligibility criteria to participate in a state approved internship program.
