Operational since 1922, WJR is a radio station that operates at 580 kHz that airs music shows, live performances and celebrity interviews. The radio station broadcasts various public service announcements. It station offers news on politics, crime, social issues, religion and lifestyle. WJR is a part of Citadel Broadcasting Company, which is one of the largest pure-play radio companies in the United States. The company owns and operates more than 150 FM and over 50 AM radio stations in nearly 50 markets located in approximately 25 states throughout the country. Citadel Broadcasting Company also owns and operates ABC Radio Networks, which creates and distributes programming to more than 4,000 affiliates.
