The country store has everything you would expect in a bait shop, plus all the fishing stories to go with it. Gas, beers, snacks, ice, pontoon rentals, and smiles.

WOW what an amazing adventure! We rented a pontoon from these folks and it was a brand new boat. They marked us a map to boat ride over to the springs for lunch and swimming. We had a great experience. Some of the best customer service Ive had. If you are in the Orlando/Daytona Beach area you have to check these guys out.

We stayed there Oct., 2015 and were disappointed. The kitchen tables, cabinets and night stand were dirty, even after we cleaned them up a little, we decided not to use them. Broken docks, broken boat lifts and old sunken boats which just didn't happen. Ruts in the road will blow you tires out. This place is/was not cheap to rent.

Amazing Experience!

Highland Park Fish Camp will now be a family tradition for my family! We stayed in one of their cabins and rented a pontoon boat for the day. This place is a unique find for anyone who wants to see the real Florida! The staff was amazing, they went out of their way to make us feel at home. They have a stocked pond for catch and release perfect for the kids. Great family run business for over 50 years! We will be back! Thanks Highland Park!

Great Old Florida!

I love to get out of Orlando and discover new things right here in central Florida. Highland Park Fish Camp is one of the neatest places I have found so far! A real old Florida Fish Camp surrounded by a wildlife refuge with tons of wildlife and a beautiful waterway that joins the St. Johns River. I rented a campsite and put a tent up for the weekend. I also rented a small boat from the camp and they marked a map for me and showed me how to get around. Great place, great staff and great experience!! I will be back.

Unique and Memorable Family Vacation

We stayed for long weekend of fishing and enjoying the beautiful St. John's River. We couldn't have asked for a more memorable trip. My kids, 5 & 7 years old, had the time of their life. They had a blast fishing out of the catch and release pond and seeing all of the wildlife, right on the property. We really liked that it wasn’t so commercial but still had all of the convenience that we were looking for. We stayed in one of the rustic cabins and rented a boat…very reasonable pricing. Friendly and knowledgeable staff that went out of their way to help our kids catch their first fish. Also gave us great directions on how to get to DeLeon Springs in the boat, definitely recommend eating at the Sugar Mill. We had no complaints. Great weekend, we will definitely be coming back!! Thinking about planning a guys fishing trip with guides!

very disappointing trip for anniversary

we went in april 4 years ago for anniversary gift to wife.the cabin itself was nice, but from there downhill. water in faucets was brown could no use water.air cond broke down. 3 dozen shiners died due to we used river water in live bait wells. no one told us not to do that until our 3rd day there.when we brought it up to management they said to use their water instead ,cause river water was to acidy. nice to know after wasting 3 dozen shiners. we tried to get to fishing spots but entire area was full of weeds.got stuck, broke down in boat ,lost keys, saw bull shark and moby dick(????) have no idea what it was we saw but it was bigger than the boat.fell in water.got back to fish camp, was told that my boat was in way of others paying to keep boats there. so we moved it , way down away from us.no one ever used the spot we had to move our boat out of while we were there.this was 4 years ago so maybe things have changed. in fact we want to go back and give it another try. stay tuned

DO NOT STAY HERE! This “fis...

DO NOT STAY HERE! This “fish camp” places no priority on guests. They must make enough money on their boat launch and boat rentals to not care about guests – long or short term. The bathrooms are inadequate (a single shower for the whole camp & 1 toilet for women & 1 for men), dingy and dirty. The campsites are too close together and just out in the open field – no trees, no cover and no fire rings – “just be responsible with where you build your fire.” I was over charged – which was refunded after much discussion and disbelief on the owner’s part. Now let me get to the worst – they have “camp dogs” that are not subject to the leash requirements set forth for every other guest so they invade your campsite, bark all day and night and chase you barking if you happen to need the restroom facilities after dark. There is a TRAIN that screams through the dark at 2 AM and planes that fly so close overhead you’d swear they are landing in the campsite next to you. AND their boat launch customers also like to scream at each other at 5:30 AM about “boat launch etiquette” while standing 30 feet away from the campsite on the south side of the property. PLUS while I was calmly asking for a refund for the nights we had paid for but not yet stayed I was interrupted by one owner (sprawled in his leather Lazy Boy) who was inflexibly unreasonable and rude, laughing at my concerns and dissatisfaction. Apparently unless you belong to the “good ole boy club” you are not prioritized or treated as a guest at all. And last but not least their website is ridiculously misleading and inadequate. You’ll notice there are no pictures of the property save 1 or 2 of the pond and the bait shop. There are lots of pictures of people with fish but they don’t include pictures of the grounds because of the reasons I listed above – nothing but boats, old cabins, dirty singlewide trailers, moldy fifth wheels and campers and a cinder block “outhouse.” DO NOT STAY HERE!

We thought this would be our favorite place until... We complained to the owners of the Highland Park Fish Camp about the boats flying out of their facility, one right after another, even though it is a NO WAKE AREA. We were told by the owners that they considered this law to be a unfair law and that the manatees could just get out of the way. So if you care about Florida's wildlife do not use this facility at all. Says alot for Captain Rawlins when bass fishermen spending money at his place is more important then the wildlife that was here first. We also found the same bass fishermen go at breakneck speeds all through the minimum wake area around Highland Park Fish Camp. It did not take long for us to see a young otter hit and killed by one of these macho fishermen.

WHAT A GREAT CHANGE OF PACE

This camp is run by the nicest family you could ask for. At 22 a night plus 3 for airconditioning it is not bad. There are alot more expensive places to go. But if you have a giant RV and need 50 amps this might not be what you are used to. It is not a luxury location. If you are a fisherman this place is great. If you want pools and lots of neighbors, not the place. But it is beautiful, very quiet, good deals on rental boats and lots of cool places nearby. I would certainly recommend it to tent campers and travel trailers.

No RVers

User Rating: 2 out of 5 stars by American RVer 10/15/2010 Do not disagree with quiet, and pleasant. But don't come as an RVer! The website doesn't show the other charges that you will suddenly find out about. I'm told there isn't enough room on the website to list everything. Then there is the charge for Volusia County Resort Tax. As an RVer, I have never paid that tax in Volusia County RV resorts. I bring my own room. So I never expected that one. So instead of staying for around $40-50, it became $90-100. The weekend before I stayed at a fish camp in Volusia County and didn't pay for all this. But then again I was only charged what they had advertised on their website!! RVers be warned.
