I am taking the time to write this review because I've had multiple poor experiences at this same Bob Evans location. Bob Evans restaurants typically have very good food and a great down-home atmosphere. This location is unfortunately the exception. On the several occasions we have been at this location to eat, each experience follows the same path- dirty doors when you walk in, a wait to be seated, despite the restaurant having ample staff standing around not doing work while tables are dirty and waiting to be cleared/cleaned, and the uniforms on the staff visibly soiled. If it were one staff member or one occasion, it could be overlooked, but it has been the same experience each time. Last night, my husband and I wanted breakfast food and we both had the same thought- should we try it one last time to see if things have improved? The first thing we saw when walking in was the grime on the white paint of the second set of push doors when you walk in. It was an accumulation of grime from hand prints on the white paint that has not been cleaned. The next thing we saw was a lobby full of people in the waiting area. I glanced around and one staff member in the kitchen was standing on his cell phone, the other cook staring out the kitchen window at me, and 3 other wait staff in the restaurant doing what appeared to be nothing but loitering. I then watched the assistant general manager walk past a customer waiting to pay at the counter two separate times in no hurry to assist her. He never acknowledge her, despite him looking at her and walking past twice. That was a clear sign that if the assistant general manager doesn't care, why would the staff? Once we were called back to be seated, we realized the restaurant was less than 1/4 filled and again ample staff members standing around doing no work. As we walked back to our table, there were 5 different tables on our walk that were piled with dirty dishes and the customers were gone. Food was scattered over the carpeted floors throughout the restaurant. It was very clear that there were obvious problems again. Once we were seated, my husband went to the restroom and found one of the cooks that had been back in the kitchen standing on his cell phone in the bathroom. As I was waiting at the table by myself, I notice the table directly beside us was stacked with dirty dishes- like many of the other tables. It stayed that way for 3/4 of our dinner. Our meals were both mediocre. My husband and I both ordered eggs over easy and both of us received them cooked hard all the way through. We did not say anything for fear of what would come back from the kitchen. Plus, the obvious lack of concern from the assistant general manager with the other customer at the counter proved to us that customer service was not their top priority. When we were leaving the restaurant, the lobby and entry way was cleared of all customers. My husband and I were walking to the doors and the assistant general manager watched us walk past him within an arm's length. He made no gesture or attempt to thank us for coming in. It was a strange feeling to have someone watch you walk all the way out the door and say nothing. Once in the parking lot, my husband and I both commented on the strange behavior of the assistant general manager. The unprofessionalism and appearance of the staff, the uncleanliness of the restaurant, and the lack of care from the assistant general manager was an equation for disaster. Bob Evans restaurants were founded by a man that wanted to treat all of his customers like family and provide great food to them. We certainly did not receive anything close to that treatment. It is very unfortunate that this Defiance location can consistently be so dreadful when the corporation itself is so wonderful.

WOW! I was greatly disappointed in the meal I ordered-chix noodle over mashed potatoes. In fact it said DEEP DISH of chix noodles over a heaping of mash potatoes. The only thing deep dish was the bowl. It had an OVERSIZED biscuit with a table spoon of mash potatoes and fourteen noodles with two small strips of chix. All for $7.00. After having not eaten all day and getting to the restaurant at 6PM I was ready to eat a FULL DINNER. The meal was a JOKE. My son got a meal with a biscuit that was OVERSIZED as well to make a meal look more than it was......The best part of the service was the waitress.....the manager asked every table around us if all was okay...our table ...not even a Hello...one Bob Evans I will NOT be returning back to..................................With great disappointment I did not have dinner until I arrived home.
