As opposed to other companies, we are truly are a hands on builder. Marty, Sr., or M.J., serves as president and general manager on all jobs. Marty, Jr. is now the acting general contractor on all jobs. We think you get the best of both worlds with the multi-generational team; the wisdom and experience of M.J. and the enthusiasm and fresh ideas of Marty, Jr. Marty Coates, Sr. Born in Niles, Ohio, Marty relocated to Dayton in 1963 to attend the University of Dayton. Upon graduation, he began M.J. Coates Homes in 1968. 40 years later, Marty is still one of the most hands on builders around. He is on the job sites multiple times a day, and is often seen at our model homes on Sunday. He participates in every part of the process from lot selection and the placement of your home to landscaping and irrigation. Marty also attended the University of Dayton, where upon graduation he joined his father in the family business. Marty has taken the company to new levels both professionally and creatively. Toni Coates Serves as the Vice President of M.J. Coates Homes, and handles all financial and sales issues. It is her responsibility to see that the financial side of the business is running smoothly. Toni works with you on your draws and is the liaison between the banks, the customer, and the company. Janice Blanford, our on-site accountant, assists Toni in this, in addition to teaching business classes at the University of Dayton. Toni is also a licensed real estate agent with Sibcy Cline, and can assist in the sale of your current home. She has helped many clients make a smooth transition from their current home to the one we build for them. Marty and Toni have been married for 32 years. Gina Coates Gina serves as the head of sales, and as the selection coordinator for all of our clients. She worked for several top developers in Chicago before coming home to join the family business last year. She assists in every element of interior and exterior selection, as well as overall design. Since every home is truly unique to that client, she helps navigate the client through the selection process and serves as the main contact between the client and the individual sub-contractors one the job is underway.
