Houck Floor Service is owned and operated by two brothers, Jim and Joe Bruce. The company was started by our Grandfather, L.E. Houck, in 1951. We both learned our craft by working side by side with him for several years. We took over in 1987 when Mr. Houck retired. We have completed over 1,000 floors since then. Houck Floor Service specializes in nailed-down inch thick tongue and groove hardwood floors. We offer both factory finished and raw wood to be sanded and finished in the house. We also sand and refinish your existing floors to make them look new again. Our other services include the removal of old carpet or other floor coverings, repair to damaged floors and maintaining previously urethaned floors with new topcoats. Minor floor related carpentry, such as air vents, moldings and thresholds add a finished touch. Servicing Dayton, Ohio and the Surrounding Areas.

I called Houck to request an estimate on wood floor refinishing. He asked when I wanted to have the work completed since they were booked eight weeks out; I appreciated that. I mentioned I was getting a few estimates and was going to go with the best one at the company's convenience. He asked what I meant by best estimate and I replied that it would be the company with the lowest price. He quickly replied that it would not be them and that they were a "high end" company. I told him not to worry about it since he didn't seem like he wanted the job. He replied, "Nope." It was a terrible customer service experience. I'm getting a few estimates to ensure that I pay a fair price for the services rendered.
Was wondering if other reviewers had their floor trim or quarter round rem0ved before Houck did their floor sanding and refinishing?
Jim and Joe did an amazing job on our floors. Once we ripped up our carpet, we found unfinished floors. We hired Houck to finish and stain them. The gave suggestions on stain color and was dead on! We absolutely love the color. And their attention to detail during the job was refreshing. They made sure every little trim piece was perfect. We would definitely hire them again!
We had tore up our old carpet and were going to try to refinish our wood floors on our own. Luckily a friend of ours gave us the name of Houck Flooing. We set up an appointment with them and he came out to assess the condition of our floors. There was a lot of damage from one of our dogs and her "accidents". He was honest with us about the damage and let us know the cost up front. While we were on vacation, they came in and sanded, stained, and finished our floors. We were excited to get home and see the end product. We were amazed at the absolute beauty of our wood floors. They were like brand spanking new floors.
