- CryotherapyPeterson Sports Therapy provides physical therapy services within the NSCOS Danvers office. Full services are provided including cervical traction, electric stimulation, ultrasound, whirlpool, heat, cryotherapy, and therapeutic exercise including isokinetics and fitron cycle. Peterson Sports Therapy sees patients of all ages and will work with patients to develop a plan to optimize recovery from injury or surgery.

- OrthopedicsRafael Kakazu, MD is proud to be joining the team at North Shore Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Kakazu was born just outside New Orleans to Argentine parents with Japanese roots.
- ArthroscopyHe attended Jesuit High School New Orleans and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago as well as a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago. Dr. Kakazu then returned home to New Orleans to complete his Medical Degree at Tulane University. His path then took him to Cincinnati where he completed a 1-year Orthopaedic Research Fellowship and a 5-year Orthopaedic Surgery residency where he was honored with the Chief Resident of the year as voted by peers. He then completed fellowship training focusing on Sports Medicine at UConn Health in Farmington, CT which focused on advanced techniques in knee and shoulder arthroscopy as well as shoulder reconstruction. Additionally, Dr. Kakazu is passionate about sports coverage and has experience from the high school level (Loveland HS, Loveland, OH), to college (Cincinnati, UConn), to professional teams (FC Cincinnati).

- Knee ReplacementWilliam J. Murzic, MD is a specialist in hip and knee reconstruction. His practice is exclusively joint replacement. He has more than 30 years of experience in hip and knee replacement, as well as complex revision surgery. His interests include mini-invasive techniques, rapid recovery, and outpatient joint replacement. He only utilizes technologies that have been shown to improve outcomes. He has a BA in economics at Columbia College, and received his MD at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a six-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He completed a one-year joint reconstruction/robotic fellowship at Sutter General Hospital / UC Davis Research Labs in Sacramento, California. He is on the active staff at MGB Salem Hospital, Atlantic Coast Surgical Suites in Seabrook, NH, Mass General North Shore, and Lahey Health/Beverly Hospital.

- Sports MedicineA native of Beverly, Massachusetts and graduate of Beverly High School. Dr Peterson returned to his hometown after a 15 year career in the military with the Army and Navy. He was deployed for 6 months in 2009 to Afghanistan with a forward surgical team providing orthopedic care to the Marines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was also deployed to Indonesia on the US Navy Hospital Ship Mercy on a humanitarian mission there after the earthquake and tsunami in 2003. He did a sports medicine fellowship at Harvard/MGH in 2007-8 and was one of the team physicians for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, New England Revolution, and Harvard University. He provides general orthopedic care with a strong emphasis on sports medicine.

- Ankle SprainMichael Lovett is a physical therapist at Peterson Sports Therapy. He has been at Peterson Sports Therapy for several years providing personalized, high-quality physical therapy. He was a three-sport athlete in high school—football, basketball, and baseball—and found himself in Dr. Duff’s office following an ankle injury. Following a successful course of rehab, he went on to play football at the collegiate level for Ithaca College culminating in a national championship. He was inspired by his treatment by Dr. Duff and decided to pursue physical therapy. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College and completed internships at Queen City Hospital in New York City, NY; Lubin Rehabilitation in the Bronx, NY; Charles Wilson Hospital in Binghamton, NY; and Williamsport Hospital in Williamsport, PA. He spent 3 years in Pennsylvania before returning to Peterson Sports Therapy where he has remained for several decades.
