General Info
As a Board Certified General Surgeon for over 20 years, Dr. Eller performs a wide scope of surgical procedures ranging from minor office procedures to robotic and laparoscopic operations. He performs outpatient surgery at Surgery Center of Plano and Centennial Surgery Center. Inpatient operations are performed at Centennial Medical Center in Frisco. His office is conveniently located in Dallas, on Preston Road just south of the George Bush turnpike. Same-day appointments are typically available, and the office accepts most insurance plans. Dr. Eller has extensive experience in laparoscopic surgery. Most procedures, including gallbladder surgery, inguinal hernia repair and umbilical hernia repair may be done laparoscopically in a day surgery setting. Dr. Eller likes to know his patients as individuals, and has a "family doctor" approach to surgical care. He spends time educating patients about their condition and treatment options. In addition to General Surgery, he also practices bariatric medicine, helping patients to manage their weight with nutrition counseling and lifestyle change.I started my general surgery practice in Plano in 1996, returning home to bring my style of personal attention and cutting edge technology to my hometown. Dr. Eller's bio: My family has lived in Plano, TX since 1959, so I have watched Plano and the surrounding small farm communities transform into the large cosmopolitan suburbs we see now. Growing up, I was interested in everything. I played trumpet in the band, played football, and ran track as I worked hard to keep up a rigorous academic schedule. After graduating from Plano Senior High School in 1979, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Baylor University. I then moved on to Texas A&M University where I earned a second Bachelor's degree in Medical Science, a Master's degree in Biochemistry, and ultimately my Medical degree. I returned to the Dallas area for General Surgery residency at St. Paul Medical Center. During those 5 intense years of training at St. Paul, Parkland Memorial Hospital and Children's Medical Center, I learned so much about the hardships of illness and how the art of Medicine could help and heal. The final leg of my academic journey took me to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where I became their first Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery fellow and was privileged to work with pioneers in the field of modern minimally invasive surgery. I was also able to pursue my research interests under their expert guidance. Although it was difficult to leave Nashville, I returned home to Plano upon the completion of my fellowship, and I have lived and practiced here ever since. I am married to Michele Cavenee MD, my partner in Vital Wellness & Weight Loss, and I have two wonderful children who are currently in middle school.
