      I took from Mike for over two years. Very good teacher, interested in working on what the student is interested in as opposed to just showing off his skills (I've had that kind of teacher, too). Patient, good practical approach, a little theory mixed in just so you have a true understanding of how the music works. Highly recommended. -Stephen James

His unique method of teaching was fostered by the late Terrill Gardner of McCord Music Company fame.Mr. Ellis' dedication to teaching students music skills, understanding, and music appreciation set him apart from many teachers. While guiding students through manual skills, Mr. Ellis pulls from his 40 years of teaching experience and 50 years of performing experience to give the student "more than just lessons."
