Polk County governs the Polk County Public Works Department. The department is responsible for approximately 500 miles of County roads and 120 County bridges. It offers public works: administration, road maintenance and survey and engineering services. The department s road maintenance services include adding rock to gravel roads and grading, asphalt paving and patching, maintain and install culverts, maintain and repair bridges, install and maintain signs along roadways, noxious weed eradication and snow and ice removal from the roads among others.
