The Dakota Community Unit School District 201 operates junior, senior high and elementary schools. It also operates a play child care center that is a state licensed facility and serves children in the age group of 3 to10 years. It offers thematic curriculum, and group and individual activities. Its programs include preschool, full- and part-time day care, and before and after school care. Located in Dakota, Ill., the district also has an alumni association and a media center that consists of online catalogs, encyclopedias, atlases, grammar, articles and magazines. The district has an enrollment of more than 900 students and employs over 60 teachers. It encourages parental involvement in the form of parent-teacher conferences, guardian visit to schools, telephone conversations and written correspondence.
