- Dental ExaminationThe American Academy of Pediatric Dentists recommends children visit the dentist every 6 months in order to prevent cavities and other dental problems. Of course, we understand that every child is unique and may require more frequent visits for a time due to specific conditions or concerns. If your child has not yet visited a dentist for the first time, we recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible for a routine cleaning and examination. During this first visit, Dr. Kleypas or Dr. Tejada will discuss the recommended frequency or schedule of your child’s dental visits as well as any follow-up visits required based on their initial examination.
- X-raysDuring your visit, our hygienist or dentist will also consult with you about other health conditions or concerns you may have that are related to your oral and dental health and may discuss other treatments or procedures that you may need to consider. Overall, the goal of our team and every dental visit is to provide our patients with the exceptional care you need in order to smile with confidence!
- Oral Cancer ScreeningMost people should plan to have their teeth cleaned every six months. This is important for two reasons. First, plaque tends to harden into a substance called calculus after six months in most mouths. The calculus can only be removed by the dentist or hygienist with special equipment. If the calculus is allowed to remain on the teeth, it acts as a safe haven for more bacteria, which form even more calculus. In addition to cleaning your teeth twice yearly, we also like to perform an examination at each dental visit. This consists of checking the teeth for any damage, performing an intra-oral cancer screening, and checking the integrity of any previous restorations. This is a general guideline only, as those with periodontal problems will require more frequent care.
- Teeth CleaningBone loss around teeth is a non-reversible situation. In some instances, synthetic bone can be placed around teeth by a periodontist, but there are very specific criteria. Bone is lost because the bacteria in plaque cause irritation to the body. If the irritant is left long enough, an inflammatory response occurs and bone levels begin to decline over time. This is the reason that regular dental cleanings along with proper brushing and flossing are so important.

- VeneersThrough the use of dental veneers, our team at Kleypas Family Dentistry can enhance the appearance of your smile by minimizing cosmetic imperfections in your teeth so that you can smile with confidence again.
- CrownsTypically, teeth that have been treated with a root canal were done because a cavity was large enough to reach the nerve of the tooth. In addition, root canal teeth are more brittle than living teeth because the nerve and blood supply has been removed from the tooth. These factors make it necessary to place crowns on the majority of teeth that have been endodontically treated.
- BridgesIf you have been using dentures or even fixed bridges and are frustrated by the inconvenience, irritation, pain or unnatural appearance of these traditional tooth loss solutions, then you may be ready for long-lasting and natural-looking benefits of implant dentistry.
- Root Canal TreatmentPreserving teeth through root canal surgery can cause anxiety among patients, but Dr. Kleypas, Dr. Tejada and our team strive to put every patient at ease throughout the procedure in order to provide a comfortable dental experience and pain-free results.
- Deep CleaningDeep cleaning is another name for scaling and root planing. This is the preliminary treatment for someone with a mild to moderate case of periodontal disease. With scaling and root planing, the gums are anesthetized (numbed) and all deposits (calculus, tartar) along the root surface of the tooth is cleaned. Typically, there is very little post-op discomfort; ibuprofen (Advil) is a good recommendation for those who are not allergic. Improving one's oral hygiene practices are much more important following periodontal treatment. Proper brushing and flossing along with any adjunctive mouth rinses will be paramount in preventing future recurrence of periodontal disease. Regular re-care appointments will also be key. Your doctor and hygienist will make recommendations based on your particular disease patterns
- DenturesA dental implant is different from dentures or bridges because implant dentistry replaces both the tooth and the root, allowing the artificial root to attach to the bone directly. Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces the root of the tooth with a metal, screw-like post and replaces the damaged or missing tooth with an artificial tooth that looks and functions much like your remaining natural teeth. Dental implant surgery can be an ideal alternative to dentures or bridgework that may not fit well or do not have a natural appearance. Dental implants are also the preferred option when a lack of natural teeth roots prevents dentures or bridgework from being a possibility for tooth replacement.
