I drove up to this business, which is not in a storefront, but in a residential home in a residential neighborhood. In my van were two sewing machines with some operational parts built into and bolted to the inside of the console cabinet. In order to remove the sewing machine, a dismantling of the cabinet and welded box holding operational parts would have been necessary. However, maybe the sewing machines worked just fine with those permanently secured parts and dismantling was not needed. I did not know as in all of my eight decades of using old Singer Sewing Machines, I had never before seen such a set up. From Dr. Dane's advertisement, I wrongly assumed he would be the one to make the determination of what this contraption was and if it was necessary.. I was wrong. Upon driving up, I was reprimanded and made fun of for my "ignorance", for not having removed the sewing machines from the cabinets and bringing along , "...just the sewing machines." That person would not even stop insulting me long enough for me to show them the reason. An ignorant person of the facts would have asked, "Why did you bring along the sewing machines in the cabinets?" To which I would have shown that ignorant person why. But this went beyond simple ignorance. It was pure stupidity to just keep insulting me and telling me that I did not know to, "....just bring along the sewing machines." So, I drove to Jefferson Parish to the sewing machine repair shop I had used for decades before moving to the Northshore. The knowledgeable owner and I had a good laugh at my experience with Dr. Dane's, and we both learned a lot about someone's unique solution and invention. Smart people do that.
