The Pita Gourmet is probably the best restaurant in Cortland, although it's my favorite overall. I know it sounds like I'm being overappreciative but it's all about the experience. From the outside of the restaurant it doesn't look like much just a little nook in main street but once you go in they seat you in these nice little booths and take your order. My favorite dish is the shistawoo(don't know if I spelled that correctly) i like to get the nice simple greek salad, you can enjoy before the meal and it's really good if you mix it with some tabouleh(extra) and put it in a pita (they come with every meal.) Then once your done with the salad they bring out the shistawoo and the chicken is sooo good, it's grilled and marinated and very tender. The bed of rice pilaf is the perfect compliment to the chicken and the pitas are fun to assemble. It's a great place to go with family because the environment isn't stuffy but it's a beautiful little place to have a great experience and delicious food. The family that runs it is very hospitable, and it makes you feel like your sitting down at their table at home. I would definately give the Pita Gourmet 5 out of 5 stars.
