I am a teacher as the 2012-13 school year started, our district introduced all teacher to a new web based program, Illuminate. I was very excited after the first presentation thinking that the days of grading test for hours after school were over. After a couple of attempts to use Illuminate the problems showed up. Students enrolled in classes did no show up. After many phone calls to the person in our district, this person contacted Illuminate and it took for ever to get the problem solved. Many other teachers in the district are experiencing difficulties such as not being able to see their class rosters, no being able to scan answer sheets from a test, etc. The initial enthusiasm about Illuminate Education Data and Assessment is gone due to the poor performance of this system. In times when the money is scarce and districts spend a lot of money in a program with excellent sales pitch and then it does not deliver as promised teacher would lose interest. Avoid Illuminate if you can!
