I have been a client of Corning Animal Hospital for 10 years and they are great! I have been in when an animal has come in with a true emergency and they are extremely compassionate to the animal and it's people. They also try to keep waiting clients informed of the wait time and offer to reschedule for another time or make arrangements to see the pet after the emergency is taken care of. As far as requiring a notice to fill or call in a prescription, I don't know any place (Doctor or Veterinary) that can process the request the same day. My Doctor office requires an appointment or 48 hours notice. The medical record needs review and I would be very upset if my appointment was delayed because someone else felt their refill was more important then my scheduled appointment. When you are giving medicine to an animal every day, you should be aware the bottle is getting low and call it in before you run out. If you are out of town the phone still works the same, just pick it up and call!
