- Ear InfectionsCommon causes of earache include different types of infection, injury, or pressure. Middle ear infections are especially common in children 2 years of age and younger and are often seen during or after a cold. This is the result of infection developing behind the eardrum where fluid may have accumulated during the cold. Outer ear infections (swimmer's ear), though painful, are quite different in that it is the skin lining the ear canal that becomes infected and painful. This typically happens during the summer with older kids who have been swimming, thus the term "swimmer's ear."
- Sleep DisordersThere are numerous factors that are related to bedwetting. Unless t here are other urinary concer ns, isolated nighttime bedwetting is most often related to maturational delays of the nervous system and urinary system. There is also strong genetic correlation for bedwetting; roughly 50% of children who deal with prolonged bedwetting have a parent who also dealt with bedwetting as a child. Smaller bladder capacity, constipation, certain ENT conditions, and sleep disorders can also be associated with prolonged bedwetting.
- Emergency CarePlease let the scheduler know the nature of the visit so we can allow the appropriate amount of time. If your concern is urgent, the scheduler may refer you to one of our call center nursing staff. Many situations can be handled in our office at a cost far lower than a hospital emergency room. If you believe your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, do not delay: go immediately to the nearest hospital emergency room and then ask them to notify us of your arrival.
