Established in 1902, George Washington Carver Elementary School is a coeducational institution that has an annual enrollment of more than 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Its staff includes a psychologist, social worker, placement specialist and speech therapist. George Washington Carver Elementary School maintains a parent-teacher association that sponsors educational and social programs that complement the classroom curriculum. The school also has a library media center that provides a collection of reference books, archives, biographies, databases, encyclopedias, online dictionaries, newspapers and magazines. Located in Coral Gables, Fla., George Washington Carver Elementary School is a part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, which is one of the largest school systems in the United States and provides academic services to nearly 353,000 students in over 400 educational institutions.
