I recently became the owner of a newborn redtailed boa and don't have any experience raising snakes. First I got an amazing deal on a larger encloser than I thought I could afford. Second a staff member was immediately on hand to give me advice on raising my snake and had a large knowledge base on do's and don't's which really helped me out. Overall I felt that the staff were personable, knowledgeable and very very helpful

We went to Petco to buy a hamster last week. It took them almost 30 minutes to get someone to help us, the hamster we picked was dropped twice by the employee getting her out of the habitat and another employee set the hamster in the box on top of the ferret enclosure - the ferret's were going insane trying to get at it so I had to move her! It took another 15 minutes for them to write up the paperwork and I had to chase down someone to tell us about hamsters since it was our first time having one. We were told they tend to get wet tail and to feed them raw cabbage (which turns out to be really bad for wet tail!). That was it. Last night, our new pet passed away from wet tail. From what I've read, they don't show symptoms until 7 days after they get it...so she was sick when we bought her. Even after buying pedialyte and trying to keep her hydrated for 2 days until we could find a vet, she still didn't make it. My 11 year old daughter is devastated. What a horrible experience!
