Green Products Company in Conrad, Iowa, processes thousands of tons of corncobs and operates a fleet of semi tractor-trailers. Green Pet Products is a separate division that specializes in pet bedding and bird litter products. Corncob particles are valuable because they are highly absorbent and they are abrasive. Many applications for corncob particles utilize both characteristics, such as media vibratory finishing, tumbling and blasting; carriers for fertilizer, insecticide and feed additives; and absorbent for grease and oil, liquids, hazardous wastes and socks. The company has contract authority to operate in 48 states and Canada; however, its primary freight patterns are throughout the Midwest.
