I am a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with a specialty focus in microsurgery, which most often involves the transfer of tissue from one part of the body to another to restore or replace tissues that have been affected by cancer. However, I have a broad range of interests within cancer care and feel that my responsibility as a reconstructive surgeon is to be familiar with the entire human body and all cancers that affect it. If I can strive every day to fulfill that responsibility in my practice, then I can have the utmost confidence in my ability to help my patients return to their highest quality of life after cancer, irrespective of their diagnosis or treatment pla sincerely believe that my most important job is to enable my colleagues in all other cancer disciplines to do their job effectively without fear that their treatment plans will permanently disable, disfigure or otherwise harm their patients. If my colleagues trust that I have the skills and ability to restore form and function to our patients, then they know they can pursue whatever treatment is necessary to safely treat their cancers. The multidisciplinary spirit at the OSUCCC - James allows and encourages us to have the conversations necessary to make informed decisions about the best treatment for each patient, and the world-class research efforts and university atmosphere ensure that we are using the most state-of-the-art techniques and approaches. In addition to my clinical work, I am an assistant professor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University. I am also a member of the American College of Surgeons and a candidate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Plastic Surgery Research Council and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.
