Africentric Personal Development Shop, based in Columbus, Ohio, is a nonprofit, counseling institution that prevents, treats and eliminates substance abuse and violence in Central Ohio. Founded in 1988, it provides wellness programs, treatment and recovery services for individuals, families, organizations and communities. It encourages Africentric development and lifestyles, offer consultations, educational programs, cultural activities and communityide events to strengthen community ties. The organization receives funds from various sources, including local citizens, the city of Columbus Health Department and Medicaid. Africentric Personal Development Shop offers most of its programs at no charge to participants and financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
