I have been going to Columbus Coffee for several years now. The staff is always friendly, and the coffee is usually good. Now they're selling FAIR TRADE coffee, which is a great addition. I haven't noticed any of the other coffee shops in Columbus selling FAIR TRADE coffee yet, so I think Columbus Coffee is the first. That is a great inspiration!Their magazines they stock are usually okay (it is important for me that coffee shops have something interesting to read!), and they also have a nice, but small, library of books one can peruse if desired.I've tried some of their sandwiches and soups, and -- at least from what I've had -- they were excellent, albeit a bit overpriced. The pastries have been okay. I usually go with the cinammon roll, though. You can't go too wrong usually with that. No American pastries have ever come distantly close to those you can get in Europe, however. When will we learn? For pastries, I suggest going to Holland or Southern Ireland etc. etc.

The bumper sticker on their door says, "Friends Don't Let Friends Go To Starbucks." They are so right. Why go to some impersonal, megachain where the staff is ignorant of the basic principles of coffee when you can go to Columbus Coffee. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They know all about their coffee beans (heck they roast them themselves). The food is good and there is a huge variety of drinks. My only complaint is their dessert selection. Everything is obviously brought in from some commercial bakery and is sometimes stale.I hope they stay in business for many years.
