Founded in 1993, Steel Dynamics, also known as SDI, is one of the largest producers of carbon steel products. It operates more than five electric-furnace minimills and has over 3,500 employees. The company has various divisions that include flat roll, structural and rail and engineered bar product divisions. SDI manufactures a wide variety of products, including rails and flat-rolled steels. Its subsidiary, New Millennium Building Systems, produces joists, girders and decking for nonresidential construction projects. SDI manufactures various types of steels, including pickled, cold-rolled, galvanized and painted flat-roll steels. Additionally, the structural and rail division of the company produces flange beams of a variety of flange sizes and weights. Steel Dynamics is located in Columbia City, Ind.
