After 20+years my business/relationship with this office & it's sister clinic (Oakwood)has ended. There is a lengthy review posted on both of their facebook pages explaining why! Please read it before you decide to establish a patient/client relationship at either clinic.

When calling the Troy Oakwood Vet office to ask the veterinarian a question on our dog the girl (Brianna) who answered the phone tells us she is going to put me on hold while she asks the vet. She then gets back on the phone and tells me her own opinion and tells us that's what the vet said when she did not talk to him or any vet for that matter. While my husband is traveling out of state with our dog, he had concerns about the dogs symptoms and asked to talk to the vet who treated and seen our dog only two days earlier. Again a girl who answers phones at Latham Bought tells us the vet will not speak to him because their is nothing he can say that can not be faxed to another vet out of state. I also purchased medicine for $150.00 from Oakwood vet for 90 pills.. Our dog got sick from the pills after the 3rd day and could not take them. The office would not take the medicine back to credit our account.. I have been with Oakwood Vet since they opened, I will not be bringing our pets back here and will not be recommending anyone to their office... Very poor to do business when dealing with office staff. A mechanic will you talk to over the phone about a car, but a veterinarian who treated and seen your pet two days ago will not. After all the money we have spent at this office and to be treated so poorly is disgraceful.

I have been going to bought for over 20 years. I have watch ed the vet helpers become veterinarians... at this clinic.and others in this area.. I have found them to be very responsible and caring.. They have learned from Dr.oles their wisdom and understanding. I have found them to reasonable and do not do all these extra tests.. In conclusion I have had good experiences there with my dogs dying but trying they always do.. doing their best.. Inconclusion. they are a AA++ hospital.. I would rate all their vets excellent..

Having to put my loving family dog down

I have been going to Bought Veterinary for a long time now with my pets. I had a cat of 16 years that had to be put down because of a tumor in his mouth. He went down so peacefully. (That was two years ago) The other day we had to make another hard decision to put down our dog that was very sick ( wouldnt eat, lost weight and had addison disease ext. I brought her into the office crying my eyes out with my husband by my side. Dr. Anderson informed us that she should stay on the floor (yellow lab) that he id going to give her the shot, it is going to make her sleepy. Anyways I pushed my her next to me and she began to walk away . They she started staggering and crying and yipping and dragging her legs aroung the room trying to get up but couldnt. ( my husband and I are hysterical at this moment no veterinarian to be found. I started screaming doctor could u please come in. In the meantime my dog is squealing on the floor with her tougue hanging out of her mouth making noises. ( I never experienced something so terrible in my life. I knew putting my dog down wad going to be hard but to watch her like that was awful. I just hope in the future the Bought Vets when they put down another animal they check and make sure everything is ok. Dont just leave. Im just devestated about my ordeal I went through.

This review is in regards our experience "BOARDING" our dog at Boght Clinic Rt 9.

Point #1. This facility does not provide outdoor accommodations for walking dogs during the time they are boarded overnight or for long periods of time. This means if you board your dog at Boght, and your dog is house broken he will be forced to urinate, etc, inside the boarding area which is 'indoors' where dogs are boarded. Boght's online website has a photograph of the indoor 'run' area dogs use for their potty business once released from their cages. Exercise as well as fresh outdoor air is essential to any dogs good health, especially if the dog is boarding for a lengthly period of time. If a pet is depressed and missing their human family members while being confined for days to a cage, I feel it's cruel that the clinic will allow dogs to be quarantined for days without sunlight. Our dog is trained to go outside to potty and he loves lying in the morning sunlight.

Point #2. This facility does not require that your pet get vaccinated against Bordetella pertussis. If YOU don't advocate to vaccinate your dog before boarding it at Boght, then it is NOT likely the clinic will recommend it for you. Therefore, you may end up boarding your healthy pet with dogs infected with 'kennel cough' or other respiratory illnesses. We were lax by not asking all the right questions before boarding our pet at this facility. After three days and nights of boarding, we cut our vacation short to come home to rescue our pet from another long day of confinement to a cage! After a three days home, our pet ended up at a local Animal Hospital to be treated for a noisy, yucky respiratory illness which lent him lethargic with chronic weezing and gaging . He also exhibited signs of a urinary tract infection. The wonderful and caring Doctor at the hospital administered fluids through IV for dehydration, weakness and lethargy, as well as an injection of a strong antibiotic for infection. Our dog would not eat nor drink water two days prior to taking him in for emergency treatment. After a few more days of lying around motionless, our sweet boy began to show signs of healing. He recovered nicely and is doing great. We have been advised to never use Boght for boarding again. After the owner of Boght explained they do not recommend Bordetella vaccinations, nor feel its important to have outdoor accommodations, he ended his conversation by calling me a 'nut' for complaining about their boarding facility. I quickly decided it was time to write a review to share our story. We will miss Dr. Ford, as she was a wonderful and loving doctor. Nixie, one of the assistants, was also wonderful with our baby. Thank you both for the care you provided while we were customers.

Boght Veterinary charged me $2...

Boght Veterinary charged me $20 when I told them I wanted to fill my prescription elsewhere because the price they charged for Heartgard was really high. No one told me about this fee until the appointment was over, at which point I had to pay for the exam. If you refuse to pay the fee, Dr. Wagoner refuses to give you the prescription, but still requires you to pay for the exam. The vets themselves don't let you know there is a hidden fee, they leave it to their young veterinarian technicians to take the heat. When I asked to speak to a vet, I was told she was busy. When I asked to have someone call me about the hidden fee, nobody did.

I have been taking my two dogs...

I have been taking my two dogs here for about a year now and have always had great friendly service. However last Monday my 5 year old black lab became very ill, we took him to the vet and from there he was sent to the hospital for the night. The next morning he was sent back to the vet where he stayed until Thurday evening. We were told he was good to go home but it proved to be false as Wiggles past away the next morning. I guess I could yell, scream and point fingers but the truth is I'm too broken hearted and the bottom line is it won't bring my dog back. Just wanted to share my sad experience.
