North Star is by far the best school for young kids. It's an inclusive school for kids with developmental disabilities. There is a one to one ratio of typical kids to disabled kids and all of the kids benefit from this model. Very low student:teacher ratio and the educational programs for all of the kids are tailored to the individual. My son is on the autism spectrum and he has thrived in this environment. Public schools could learn a few things from this educational model. I highly recommend this school for typical kids and those with special needs.

Their rhetoric is great but there's something fundamentally rotten at the core of this school. Isn't it interesting that the school's number one priority is to add a first grade, at exactly the time when the director's grandson is ready to begin the first grade? The truth is that the director cares about the well-being of exactly one child at this school: her grandchild. Every other child, whether disabled or not, is simply along for the ride, and is no more or less than a dollar sign to her. Caring, qualified teachers and therapists are leaving the school en masse, to be replaced by...? In sum, not a good environment for any child (except I suppose the director's grandchild.)

North Star has become such an amazing school! Even though they are an agency, they are first a school and a child care faciltiy! The program is inclusive to both kids with special needs, and kids with developmental disabilities. The therapists are just an amazing group and the teachers are incredible. The quality of their program far exceeds other centers that I have been too. If you are interested in your child getting the best care, make sure to call them first!
