Upon arrival at Applebee’s my wife and I noticed several open booths. My wife requested a booth. The hostess seemed put out and had us wait while she wiped one down. I don’t know why since there were several open and clean already. She seated us in a tiny booth right beside a loud obnoxious group that had obviously been there quite awhile drinking. Immediately following we watched other couples being seated in the larger booths. We like the food and the waitress was good as usual but the young snotty dark haired hostess is costing Applebee’s our business. We are clean, quiet, and always tip well. This is not the first time we were seated in probably the worst seats there, but it will be our last.

Applebee's experiences

I do not pretend to be anyone other than myself. I am not accustomed to dining out in other than American restaurants serving traditional food. As such, Applebee's restaurants have served me well in three states. The Coeur d'Alene Applebees is typical. I regard their food as good-to-very good. I enter for a good meal and pleasant employees. That business may not be 4 star but they make no such assertions. Nor should one expect 4 star meals at a family dining establishment. There is what I feel an extremely important point to be made. After patronizing Applebees for several years, I learned that they observe Veterans Day. I participated in last year's Veterans Day observance at Applebees. The food was the same; good. The employees, however, were unusually kind. They humbled me with their respect. They treated Veterans older than I with tender loving assistance. I was very impressed. Though I am a disabled Veteran, my disability is termed "invisible". In other words, the Kind and Very nice employees at the Coeur d'Alene Applebees interacted with me unaware of my damage. Those who did not serve in the Armed Forces during Vietnam may have no idea of the cruelty we experienced at the hands of our fellow citizens at "home"."Friends" and family were equal to demonstrators in their disrespect, accusations, and uninformed characterizations. Welcome home. The people at the Coeur d'Alene Applebees give of themselves monetarily and from their hearts. I'm telling you that this warms my old heart. Does Applebees create good will and gain publicitywith this action? Of course they do. Did that play a role when someone presented a model for observing Veterans Day? Those concerned about limp parsley will complain about that as well. It's good food prepared by, and served by even better Americans. Man-up or Woman-up, fall-in, and put my experiences to the test, lol. Enter without bias or agenda and if unhappy, relate your impressions to my face...better yet, the manager. And no, other than patroning Applebees 2x or 3x a year, I am in no-way related to, or have known, or now know anyone in any Applebees restaurant at any level. Enjoy.
