Horrible company to work for! Since they have changed hands, they have become intolerable. They use to respect their loyal employees however they have not only cut vacation time for long term employees but has no concern for employee safety. During severe and dangerous weather, they allow clerical and upper position employees to leave, while the blue collar workers in the factory are required to work regardless of dangerous weather hazards heading home. Not only are factory workers required to work while upper positions are sent home due to safety during incliment wether, but the factory workers are often required to work mandatory overtime during severe winter weather. The saddest issue is, factory workers are required to clock in even if they are unable to make it due to hazardous driving conditions, not only risking the safety of employees, but the safety of others on the road. If a long term, loyal employee calls in, unable to make it to the factory due to severe hazardous driving conditions, they recieve a demerit or point on their work record placing them in danger of being fired. Basically, they are made to show up for word regardless of the risk, or face the threat of losing their job! This is simply inappropriate, intolerable and unacceptable business practices! My father has worked there for over 15 years and given this company his life, only to face the threat of losing his job because of the dangerous weather. For over 15 years, he may have missed a few days with written excuses yet still was written up even though they were valid excuses (death, illness, injury etc. During a severe storm, he called in explaining that the weather would not permit him to make it in to work only to be told he would recieve a writeup or point. Not wanting to risk his job, he set out to try and make it. He ended up sliding off of the road and flipping his only vehicle, injuring himself. Needless to say, he recieved a point against him for not making it in that day. I begged hi to obtain an attorney and sue this companie but sadly, my father is a hard worker, it's all he has ever known and he refused. I for one wish someone would look into this companies business practices and lack of concern for employee safety and do something about it! My husband now works there and rest assured that at the point he is forced to risk his safety or face the threat of losing his job and he recieves an injury or worse, Carlstar WILL be held accountable! Very sad that a company has such inconsideration. Before changing hands, they really reapected and valued the employees, all of them and not just the higher positioned office employees! Horrible company!
