- Business History
- Bruce has been known throughout the automotive community since 1953, the year he began building transmissions at a local wrecking yard. He soon started hopping up and racing cars, as so many did in the fifties. He quickly learned that the transmissions of the 50's & 60's could not handle the added horsepower, so he decided to improve on the factory design. In 1975, his son John joined forces with Bruce and together they have over 75 years experience! The end result is knowledge to rebuild and improve on strength, longevity and smoothness of operation in all classifications of transmissions. Whether you drive an everyday work car, or you're heading down the track, Bruce has perfected the operation and performance of most makes and models so your car can perform the way you expect it to.

Best place to get a transmission rebuild.
Would recommend. I'm a racer from way back and have heard of transmissions by Bruce from the 70's. I finally needed there service and they delivered. Runs great. Fair price.
We are lucky to have great service at a fair price right in our backyard.
I am heading to transmissions by bruce for the third time. Three different vehicles, the first two went so well. When I installed my first one in a k1500, I locked the overdrive in and blew the pump. My error, not only did they not laugh at me they, they removed repaired and correctly installed the transmission with good will. The second time was our commercial 3/4 ton service truck, quickly repaired, and returned to service.
I went to a lot of other garages and it seemed like they were in a hurry to take my money. John (Bruce's son) took the time to explain and show me what the problem was. I felt I got a good price and got my car back in 3 days. Runs Great.

I have a Silverado 1500 truck that had a 3-4 slip. I called transmissions by bruce along with 3 other shops and just felt like they were being honest and took time to explain what they felt like the problem was. I took my truck there on a Tues. and they called me right away with the diagnostics and explained what the problem was and the price. I checked online and the price seemed fair. Had my truck back on Thur. and everything seemed fine. That was 6 months ago.All is well. I just feel people need to know there is a good transmission shop out there to do business .
Great service! My transmission blew driving down Bagley and they had a tow truck come pick up the car right away. Even had my car back to me in 2 days! John the manager was very professional and answered my calls even after hours. I had many questions and he had an answer for all of them putting me at ease. I would recommend this shop to everyone!

I'm usally a little scared when having my car serviced because I'm a woman.This garage took there time to explain and make me understand what they were doing every step of the way. I would recommend this garage to all.
