My car, a 2008 Acura, which I purchased new in 2008, was driven to Christian Brothers. When the car was driven in would start and idle normal and had no loss of power when driven. The problem was a slapping noise from the engine. It had been diagnosed by another mechanic as needing a timing belt. Christian Brothers did a diagnostic on the vehicle which I was charged $85.00 for and said it needed a timing belt. Two days later they called and said they installed the belt and the car needed a new engine. They quoted me $5,300.00 for installing a used engine. I refused any additional work. When I went to pick up the vehicle I had to pay $1,174.00 to get the keys. The car would not turn over or start. After the vehicle was jump started it made loud noises, would not idle without the gas pedal being depressed and the car had a violent shake. I told Bryce the franchisee of the business that I could not drive. He told me I could leave the vehicle in his lot for a couple of days and he would not charge me storage! IF THE CAR NEEDED AN ENGINE, AND THEY DETERMINED IT NEED A TIMING BELT, WHY WOULD THEY EXPECT ME TO PAY FOR THE BELT?
