The first Waffle House restaurant was opened on Labor Day in 1955 in Avondale Estates, Ga. Since then, it has grown into a chain of more than 1,500 company and franchise-owned casual restaurants in over 25 U.S. states. It serves a variety of waffles, steaks, omelets, hamburgers, country ham, pork chops and grits. The restaurant serves specialty dishes, such as Bert's chili, Walt s soup, Alice s iced tea and Lib's patty melt. It offers hash browns in eight different ways. Waffle House serves more than 3 million pounds of grits each year and over 10,000 T-bone steaks each day. Apart from serving food, the restaurant supports various health and human service organizations, youth and education programs, and disadvantage and other civic causes. It conducts in-house events and programs, such as The Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-off and the Waffle House World Waffle Eating Championship.

I had never eaten at a Waffle House. I stopped in this one a couple years ago and have been going back ever since. The food is good.....the servers are the greatest.....the kitchen, restrooms, booths and dining bars are kept very clean. The servers are very attentive to the customers and are more than willing to help each other when it gets really busy. If there is ANY dissatisfaction with any ordered menu item, it is replaced immediately. The owner runs a very tight ship and any workers who are not up to the task of greeting and serving with a smile, efficiency and kindness do not last long here. Cleanliness is of the utmost importance at this restaurant. You can actually watch your food being prepared by caring and qualified cooks! It is a very comfortable atmosphere and the digital juke box has a great selection of music for all ages to choose from. I have never had a bad experience here and I always leave the servers a few exta bucks for their kind and caring efforts!
