Curtis M. Varland, Edwin Roof and W. Wilson Loveless founded Varland Metal Service in 1946. At its inception, polishing, buffing and bright rack nickel-chrome plating of appliance trim, plumbing hardware and automotive parts comprised the majority of the company s production operations. Through the years, its barrel plating capabilities, capacity and sophistication have continued to evolve and improve. Varland has the capability to provide a variety of barrel plating types, such as nickel, copper, zinc, zinc-iron alloy, tin-zinc alloy, tin, cadmium and brass. Additionally, it offers other related non-plating processes and services. In 1993, the company began 100 percent recycling of treated chemical waste. All treated chemical wastes are shipped to a processor for recovery and recycling. Varland Metal Service maintains a location in Cincinnati.
