Founded in 1827, John Morrell & Company is a meat manufacturer that produces more than 3,000 products. It offers a variety of pork and processed meat that includes ham, bacon, lunch meat, smoked sausage and hot dogs. The company also provides ham cuts and cocktail smokies. With annual sales of approximately $2 billion, John Morrell & Company features products under the John Morrell, Dinner Bell, E-Z-Cut, Farmers Hickory, Hunter, Kretschmar, Peyton's and Rath Black Hawk brands. It operates several processing facilities in Iowa, California, Kansas, Kentucky and Ohio. The company maintains a staff of over 6,700 people. John Morrell & Company has a quality control laboratory and research and development center. It is a wholly owned and independently managed subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, which is one of largest producers of processed meat and pork in the United States.
