As someone who has adopted from STAF and also been a volunteer, you won't find a more dedicated and compassionate group of animal lovers who give of their own time to care for the animals. No paid staff! Kennels are cleaned continuously and animals are always clean, healthy and loved. Their adoption rules are there to protect the animals and help assure long-term placement.

This shelter goes above and beyond and takes great care of their cats and dogs! A great place to find the newest addition to your family! They have adoption days on Thursday and Saturdays but you can contact them with questions anytime!

I was extremely disappointed when attempting to adopt a kitten for my granddaughter at the Red Bank Road facility. When first walking in the area smelled heavily of cat urine. My daughter filled out the application and we were then met by Jean who took us to another area only to let us know we would have an entire family present prior to adopting a kitten. I think this policy is ridiculous, especially when stating there were no children under 8 in the household and how we had already rescued 4 dogs and were great animal lovers. I think their policy needs to be reviewed and exceptions made. When you are told there are over 500 cats in this facility, and you can tell from the stench, you would think a young girl would be given the chance to give a kitten a home. This was a horrible experience and I will never refer this facility to anyone. We are now in the process of adopting a kitten who has just had surgery to have an eye removed. I am only rating this with 1 star because that area needs to be completed.
