In the 1940s, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming began as two separate prepaid health care plans for hospital and physician services. The two companies merged in 1976, adopting the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming name. BCBSWY offers a range of health insurance products to Wyoming employers and individuals. Additionally, it provides vision and dental coverage, flexible benefits administration, worksite benefits and a prescription drug program. More than 100,000 Wyoming residents are insured by BCBSWY. Additionally, affiliated corporations have provided a variety of new marketing opportunities, which offer even more products and services for the company s members. BCBSWY organized the Caring Foundation of Wyoming in 1990 to provide basic healthcare services to uninsured children. This nonprofit corporation has provided a healthy start in life for more than 2,500 children since its inception. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming is located in Cheyenne, Wyo.
