On May 26,2016 I bought a used suburban that was Maryland safety inspected at main street auto on May 13, 2016. last week 3 of the brake lines completely ruptured because they were completely rusted. The place where they ruptured wasn`t in an obscure location where it would be difficult to see the advanced state of the rust. The rusted lines are easily visible from standing in front of the vehicle and looking into the engine bay. I`m wondering how the inspector at main street auto failed to notice the advanced state of deterioration and the large chunks of flaking rust on these particular brake lines? I buy only inspected vehicles so I would not have bought this vehicle if I had known that it did not conform to Maryland vehicle safety standards.I have already had to have the brake master cylinder replaced because it was leaking as well as replacing a leaking brake cylinder on the driver side rear wheel. The vehicle has only been driven approximately 1,400 miles since it was inspected at main street auto. How could a leaking brake system in such an advanced state of deterioration and on the verge of imminent catastrophic failure have gone unnoticed by the main street auto inspector? It`s only by the grace of god that nobody was killed or seriously injured when the braking system experienced the inevitable catastrophic failure. On the inspection invoice the inspector indicated that the vehicle that he inspected was a K1500 suburban, which is a 4 wheel drive suburban. My vehicle is a C1500,which is a 2 wheel drive vehicle, the VIN is correct so clearly the inspector was unable to notice the obvious differences between a 2 wheel drive vehicle and a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Now I have to wonder if he actually did inspect my vehicle at all. There seems to be a lot of incompetence and negligence going on at this shop,I would stay well clear of this shop if you value your vehicle, and your personal safety.
