Founded in 1970, Jackson-Via Elementary School is a fully accredited child-centered school serving more than 300 students in preschool through grade four. The school is operated by the Charlottesville City Schools. It offers academic classes in various subjects, including reading, writing, spelling and vocabulary, English, math, science, social studies, language art and special education. The school has a media center that provides online encyclopedias, databases, facts and statistics, and dictionaries and thesaurus to its students for additional resources. It also offers sports activities, library, cafeteria, computer laboratory and food services. The school has a parent teacher association that sponsors various events and activities.
