I completely agree! I went there just the other night and ordered one of their combo meals with a chile relleno. When I sliced it open, a telltale pool of salty American cheese oozed out and saturated everything else on my plate. Then I was sad. I wish I could answer your non-rhetorical question, but I just can't figure it out either!

I am really confused. There are always a ton of cars in the parking lot. What do people like so much? When we went, everything we ate was just completely bland meat with American cheese melted over it. No seasoning whatsoever. My quesadilla was a tortilla and American cheese. That's it. The dry, unseasoned beef in my taco was so finely ground it had no texture at all. And it was topped with, well, more American cheese. Other kinds of cheese exist. Mexican food served in a high school cafeteria would have more ingredients than this. I am so lost. PLEASE someone help me understand why this restaurant is still in business. Is this the kind of food people like here? Am I crazy? Is this really what people want? Honestly, you could get more taste and texture at a fast food chain for 89 cents. My question is not rhetorical; I really want someone to post a reply and explain to me the appeal of Guadalajara. Maybe the other C'Ville locations are different, but the one on Greenbrier Drive is bad.

After years of eating here from time to time, I finally got fed up. The food is fair, nothing special but there is not much in the way of Mexican food in Charlottesville. The waiter was surly, slammed our menus on the table, scowled at us, slammed the silverware and chips on the table and my husband and I looked at each other and said, forget it, and we left. Last time!
I love this place. I have been going there for years with my family and they are always so nice and the food is great. I have 2 kids and they are always great with them and treat them like they are humans unlike many restaraunts do. Great place for mixed drinks also, the make great margaritas.
Our initial drinks came fast, but service declined from that point on. We had to ask for chips and salsa. Then, after sitting there for 20 minutes, never receiving refills on drinks or chips, never receiving our food. It was a quiet night, but at a table with a Mexican couple, we noticed how nicely and quickly they were waited on (we are a white family). Then, when a few Mexican guys came in, and was waited on promptly, I went over to our waitress to inquire about our food order. She never came back over to us, but instead brought out the food order for these Mexican guys (who were only there for 5-7 minutes). This is when we went over to the kitchen, to tell both the owner and our waitress that this was unacceptable and to forget about our order---which by the way, couldn't have been simpler (a taco, quesadilla, etc.). The owner never apologized, the waitress came over to offer us a 'discount' (on our food order that still wasn't received) no explanation was ever given---so we left.
