Peachford Recovery SCAM

I have a family member who went to Peachford after spending 3 weeks at an ATC (alcohol treatment center). He was truly looking for help to stay clean, get a job, and start a new life away from his former environment and bad influences. Peachford house turned out to be nothing other than a big scam. They have no desire to see their residents get well and stay clean. They have one plan and one plan only and that is to work the people and keep their money. My family member wasn't even getting food. He said he was lucky to get one meal per day. Top Ramen at that. Day 1 they told him he was in debt 260.00. $130 for that week (even though he arrived late in the week) and another $130 because he needed to pay 1 week in advance. OKay so now he's 260 in debt. They drive him to Atlanta to work for 3 days. They give him 1 meal per day. There was no toilet paper, no shower curtain, no blankets on his bed (just a sheet) and no pillow. They tell him he has earned $30. per day against his debt. They give him no money to buy food. Basically he stayed in debt the entire time because there wasn't enough work. Not to mention the drivers and other so called "superiors" were smoking pot and drinking beer on premises in front of those who are trying to stay clean. In 10 days they only took him to 3 AA meetings even though he should have been going DAILY. This place is a total SCAM. I wonder how much grant money they get to classify themselves as a "recovery" house. Stay away from Peachford if you want true help and healing. The only reason this is getting 1 star is because it won't allow none (or minuses!)

peachford is a scam

I was at peachford for two months. This place is a work camp with NO desire for recovery at all.

The only thing they want is to make you work so they can take your money. It is nothing bit a scam.

You can call me and i will be happy to discuss this with you.

PEACHFORD HOUSE IS A SCAM!

Peachford House is a residential drug and alcohol recovery communitiy located in Atlanta GA., Houston TX. Charlotte NC. and Clearwater FL.

FIRST AND FORE MOST PEACHFORD HOUSE IS A BUSINESS. IT IS ABOUT PROFITS AND LOSS

THEIR MISSION STATEMENT

The Peachford House Mission is to be a leading national recovery residence by connecting our clients and staff with all aspects of local twelve step fellowship. Peachford House does not seek goverment assistance for our clients preferring instead to empower residents to responsibly establish their own recovery. We must continually look for ways to improve our program. Our long-term mission is to expand our services regionally with qualified profit centers and nationally through the creation of Peachford House Franchise. To insure our stability, we must build or purchase properties for our profit centers.

I recently moved from to Charlotte and did not have a place to go.

I heard about the Peachford House and contacted them. The director is Richard Holland who refered me to the intake office. I arrived to the facility which was an apartment complex located off Eastway Drive. (The Park Apartments) I was interviewed by Richard Straight.

Richard Straight was a grey headed man, with a medium build, rough looks, smart mouth and an better than you attitude. He sat behind his desk with a condesending look and acted as if he was doing me a favor for allowing me to stay here. He stated to me he was the "Alpha and Omega" of Peachford house. He was the master, he was the one who found work for Peachford. He was the one who decided who stays and who goes. This was an attempt to let me know I was nothing without Peachford's help. Peachford required me to sign over power of attorney so I could not pick up (MY) check from the labor facility. They get all checks and cash them.

Coming from a business back ground I started observing the was Peachford House does business.

Fees:

Rent $125 per week

Food $ 30 per week

Cigs. $ 21 per week

Total $ 176 per week

A man puts in 40 hours at a rate of $6.75 less taxes, transportation fees, he brings home around $200 per week. Leaving him around $20 for his personal expenses. Which the resident has to request in writing 48 hours in advance. The scam is residents have a negative balance owed to Peachford House. The system is designed that way. I met men who have been there for months and still had no money to get back on their feet.

Peachford takes their residents to different day labor facilities. The one I was assigned to was Able Body run by a man named Mike. (He is a crook and tied in with Richard Straight) Peachford House and Able Body send out workers paying $6.75 an hour and the two companies split the remaining labor fees that are paid. Most Labor jobs pay the labor facilities between $10 and $15 per hour. Multiply the access money Peachford receives times 100 plus residents and see the profits soar.

The vile treatment of the residents is unacceptable. Men are pulled out of bed at 4:00 am. and forced to wait outside the labor facilities until they open at 5:30 am. In the cold of winter and other weather conditions. There is constant verbal abuse towards the residents.
