Worst Leasing Agent EVER! I we...

Worst Leasing Agent EVER! I went in on Sunday to tour the apartment after speaking to a leasing agent on friday. I waited for 35 minutes while the rude leasing agent carried on a phone call. After the lobby began to fill up with more people she finally hung up. I've always understood the importance that the customer in font of you is more important than a personal phone call. I explained to her that I had called on Friday and wanted to see the apartment she had quotes me at $975. She then took me to look at floorplans. I again told her that since we spoke on friday and already had figured out what floorplan best suited me all I needed to do was see it. She then told me that unit was $1150. I asked how the price went up over 2 days and she said that was always the price. I told her that when we spoke on friday she said $975 and I wouldnt have wasted my time going to see something out of my price range. She said that she and "I never would have said that" and then rolled her eyes. Needless to say, my experience there was absolutely awful and I will be renting elsewhere. So unless you like wasting your time and listening to personal phone calls I suggest going elsewhere.

Do NOT Live here!

I moved here because when they take you on the tour you are caught up in how amazing it seems. Let me tell you not the truth. The walls are VERY thin and the pople above me sound like elephants even when they walk normally. Yes the appliances are great and it seems like an amazing place to live but there have been plently of break-ins and even though we have a security guard who sits in a golf cart and "monitors" the premises i am confident they wouldnt stop anyone from entering the building. Since I moved in I have been told repeatedly to expect a gate for the parking lot. I have lived here for 7 months and there is NO gate. Now lets take about the pool who ever decided to put a pool in the center of a building so it wont get full sun for the majority of the day is an idoit. You have to move around the pool as the day goes by and on a busy Sat everyone is in 1 corner. The GREAT gym isnt great at all. A few cardo machines and dumbells isnt a GREAT gym. Now the 1 thing they have going for them is their mantience staff those guys are AMAZING! Basically everyone in the front office sucks and you have to fight with them on every little thing. I hate that i have to go in an yell to get my point across when its something that is written in my lease. Dont live here ... its not worth it! and they don't take care of you!

Do not live here

I absolutely do not recommend living here. I have talked to many tenants who have said that the people above them are just too loud. I talked to management and security many times. Nothing changed so I spoke to the person above me. She wasn’t doing anything wrong. She was literally just walking around, watching TV, cooking, etc. For that reason, I believe that the building was horribly built. How else can you explain being able to stand in the bathroom and hear urine hitting toilet water from the upstairs apartment or hear every cabinet that is closed? The solution by management was to ask everyone to go out and spend their own money to buy rugs to cover the floors.

I decided to contact a contractor who built the place and get some answers. The contractor refused to talk to me because the owner did not pay them and wanted to first see if he would get paid before he spoke of the situation. That owner went into foreclosure along with all the promises the owner made like having a safety gate and a full gym. They claim to have a full gym but there is a smith machine (with no weights or bench…worthless), 3 treadmills and 2 elliptical with TV’s (TV’s do not work), and 12 dumbbells.

So in came greystar (management company) and bank of america. All the promises made by the former owner have not come about. The management seemed nice and I told them about all my problems and asked if I could move to the top floor. They said yes but for an enormous fee. So I decided to move out. I told them all the reasons and they fined me a huge price like the earlier blog explained. I was so sick of the place, and had already began to drive to a friend’s apartment every night to sleep on their couch so I decided to pay and be done with the place. I spoke to the property manager and we decided on a move out date on the phone which she said would start my 2 month notice. I paid the 2 months rent and the astronomical fine and went in the next day and signed saying that I planned on leaving. I gave this paper to the secretary. She lost it. I thought this was a basic process so I did not make a copy of the form which was my fault for trusting their staff. I received an email 11 days later from the property manager asking where the agreement was. I explained to her that I gave it to her secretary and she asked me to come in and sign another one since it was lost. She said there was not a problem and the original date held. When I went to move out, the assistant manager told me that really the move out date was 11 days later and I was responsible for payments during that time. I explained the situation and he told me that he doesn’t care what I discussed with the manager or what was lost. This is the new agreement. Despite the move out date showing the proper date on the form, since in small print it said 2 month notice must be given, he took it from the date this second form was signed. The property manager would not contribute. He also said that I already paid a lot of money and who cares about paying a little more. That is the kind of place Cielo is.

In response to the "unsafe" review. It's just as safe as pretty much every apartment complex, except for the gate. Secondly, of the apartments that were broken in to, one of them was completely UNLOCKED, and the other three only had the bottom door locked. I'm a female in my 20s and I have not at all felt unsafe at Cielo. If you had a problem with the apartments next door, maybe you should have lived somewhere else. Anyway, I've loved living here. All the common areas have been great, I use the gym regularly and have never had a problem, it's even better now that the cable is hooked up. I've never had an issue with it being unclean or unsafe. I'd definitely reccommend it. The only problem i've had is my loud upstairs neighboor, they must stomp everywhere, but that's apartment living for you. Other than that I would absolutely reccommend Cielo! The management has always been friendly towards and was even concerned about why I was leaving (I have to move out of state). Great place to live!

Not safe

I live here and there are several problems. There were break-ins at four units in the middle of the day while the residents were at work. The building is not secure. Anyone can access the building right off the street and there are some run down apartments right next door. Also, management makes LOTS of promises but takes NO ACTION. Gates for the parking garage have been promised for 3 months (which would solve the security problem) and management now says "sometime in the Spring". The lease is full of hidden traps to prevent you from moving out if you feel unsafe. For instance, regardless of what you are paying, they claim you are getting some "discount" in your lease. In my case it is 25% of the monthly rent. When you say you want to move to a place where you feel safe, they say you MUST pay all of the "discount" you received the whole time you lived there in order to break your lease. In my case the discount repayment is more than paying three months additional rent to leave. When I moved in, I was told breaking your lease is not that difficult and "we will work with you". That management company is no longer managing the property as the developer filed bankruptcy. The new management company is very unfriendly and WILL NOT work with you on anything. If its not in writing, they dont care. Trash and dog waste everywhere, there is an abandoned car in the parking garage for three months that management refuses to do anything about. Unsafe, unclean and deceptive leases. I would recommend finding a better place to live!!

My wife and I are moving to Charlotte on June 1, 2010, from Ohio, and we wanted to rent for a year before we buy. We wanted to get more familiar with Charlotte and determine our job locations before we buy. We looked at 16 or 17 condo rental units last week. We liked the loft units at Cielo very much. They are beautiful, with a 25' ceiling (approximately) in the living room and are so nice throughout. Plus we have a view of the courtyard and pool, and there are nice amenities. We secured a 2 bedroom place, with loft, that we will use for a third bedroom, and we will be paying only $1495 a month. We liked the new rental unit more than many others that were more expensive. As for amenities, in addition to the salt water pool nice courtyard, there is a gathering room with pool table, coffee bar, and other extras, an exercise room, and a business center. All the units are brand new. We are thrilled with it, and may not want to move after the year. Another plus is that it is in the South Park area, with a myriad of restaurants and things to do in the area.
