The company was founded in 1989 and specializes in site work and golf course construction. Its operations include clearing, grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, waterline, erosion control and irrigation. It also provides services, including concrete paving, retaining walls, stone base and asphalt paving, seeding, and bunker and tee construction. The company employs more than 500 people and has constructed more than seven golf courses, including the Charlotte golf Links, Divide Golf Club, The Tradition, Waterford Golf Club and the Springfield Golf Club. It has also assisted in construction of the Birkdale Golf Club, Rocky River Golf Course and the Ballantyne Golf Resort. Additionally, the Blythe Development Company offers renovation services.
