General Info
Founded in 1939, the State Soil Conservation Committee is administered by the state of West Virginia. It provides a range of functions and programs that are focused on soil conservation and erosion retardation. The committee is comprised of more than five members. State Soil Conservation Committee disseminates information that includes the activities and programs of soil conservation districts. It also maintains, administers, operates and improves acquired properties. The committee provides various programs that focus on cultivated and noncultivated cropland and pastureland and are used to prevent erosion and enhance farming. State Soil Conservation Committee acts as a cooperator and facilitator of federal farm programs. It sets up model farms throughout the state to teach farmers various farming techniques.
